PICTURE POTPOURRI

Maintaining tradition
Phillip Seyfrit, Madison County
historic properties director, greets
two representatives of the Sisters
of Charity from Cincinnati –
Andrea Koverman (left) and
Judith Metz - who attended the
Battle of Richmond Re-enactment
Weekend. Sister Anthony O’Connell
brought six nuns/nurses to work
with the “wounded” of both sides
in 1862.

Battle
before/after

Whether it’s color or
black-and-white, the
HDR process gives
Mark Six’s photos
a different look.
These two photos from
a re-enactment at Sacramento are a
good example. Mark
took some 800 photos
at Sacramento, finding
“there were more
(photo) opportunities
than I could imagine.”

Richmond belle
Southern Belles always lend color and beauty to
re-enactments. Such was the case at the Battle of
Richmond’s Aug. 24-25 Re-enactment Weekend.

‘Take that!’
Union troops defended Camp Nelson in this re-enactment
skirmish at the facility’s Civil War Days event. Nearly 2,000
visitors were on hand for the Sept. 7-8 activities.

Anchored
The six-ton anchor that held the chain blocking Union gunboats is one of the featured exhibits
at Columbus-Belmont State Park. The park will be visited by hundreds of tourists during its
annual Civil War Days Weekend, Oct. 11-13.
