‘Now, pull!’
With the help of members of the 12 U.S. Colored Artillery, youngsters
attending Fort Boonesborough’s living history day learned how to set
a charge and fire a cannon. –

‘Angel’s Glow’
The glowing wounds of the injured at the Battle of Shiloh were indications
that the victims would live to fight another day. The inquiring mind of a
17-year-old Maryland visitor led to a solution of the mysterious light
called “Angel’s Glow.”

This old house
It looks to be in bad shape in this photo, but the historic Dr. J.J. Polk
house at Perryville is on its way to being restored. Main Street Perryville
recently raised funds to stabilize the 1840 structure.

For Civil War excellence
Gov. Steve Beshear presents BORA President-Elect Sharon Graves
with the Nunn Teacher Hall of Fame Award. Graves, who teaches at
Richmond’s Clark Moores Middle School, was recognized for her
instructional expertise in American History, and, particularly,
the Civil War.

Hoffmann as Davis
Artist Jim Hoffmann doesn’t “horse around” when portraying Theodore
Davis, the
Harper’s Weekly correspondent known for his accurate
drawings of Civil War battles. Hoffmann, seen at many Kentucky
Civil War events, has expanded his portrayals and popular sketches
with blogs about his activities.

Abe’s cabin
The Lincoln Cabin is one of the highlights of the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace
park tour at Hodgenville. This and other highlights would be featured
as part of a living history Civil War event the Park is interested in
developing.
