Perryville’s Joan House elected V-P
of Kentucky Civil War Sites Association

Joan L. House, preservation and program coordinator for Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site, has been elected vice president of the Kentucky Civil War Sites Association (KCWSA).

She succeeds Richmond’s Paul Rominger and will serve a one-year term.

House attended the University of Kentucky and Kentucky State University graduating with a degree in U.S. History and Marketing. In addition, she attended the University of Kentucky’s Graduate School of Historic Preservation and was a member of the Honor Society of Sigma Pi Kappa for historic preservation.

Married to Chad Greene, master carpenter for Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, House has one son, Jacob, who currently attends Eastern Kentucky University.

The Perryville administrator has a long background in history and has, since childhood, been immersed in the study of the American Civil War. Her link to Perryville came at a young age when she was introduced to the battlefield upon which her third great grandfather, Benjamin House, fought as a soldier in the 20th Kentucky U.S. Infantry.

A founding member of KCWSA, House also rides, trains and shows American Saddlebred Horses.
