Fifing, drumming
The Camp Chase Fife and Drum Corps will be
among the groups performing at the Cornets
and Cannons Civil War Sesquicentennial Music
Festival in Frankfort Sept. 1-4. The Ohio group
is scheduled the morning of Sept. 3
at Leslie Morris Park.
Cavalry memoralized
Lonnie Brown (right) with the Camp Nelson Honor
Guard from the 122th USCHA (Colored Heavy
Artillery) makes the presentation of colors during
an April 10 memorial dedication ceremony for
the Skirmish Near Simpsonville. The site
memorializes Company E, 5th United States
Colored Cavalry members who were killed
near the end of the Civil War.

Mill Springs honored
Bill Neikirk, Mill Springs Battlefield Association president, shows the certificate honoring the

Jim Harlan (left), of the Wayne County, Ind., Historical Museum, joined
Jerry and Janice Blossom as they tried to read an engraving on a
Civil War-era sword that belonged to Lt. Mayberry Lacey who fought
at the Battle of Richmond.

‘Finish ’em, boys’
The Civil War Drama and Train Robbery at Versailles features plenty
of action as Union troops thwart the Confederacy’s attempt to take
gold from the train they’ve stopped. The event will take place again
in September.

It was about Holt
Students at the Battle of Richmond’s Living History program conducted in May were eager to hear about the Judge Joseph Holt House restoration and
pose for a picture with Susan Dyer, coordinator of the restoration. Dyer also explained about Holt’s inclusion in “The Conspirator,” the motion picture about
the trial of the Lincoln Assassination participants. Holt served as judge at the 1865 trial of the conspirators.
