New website up and running
for Civil War sites group

The Kentucky Civil War Sites Association (KCWSA) – an organization dedicated to promoting Civil War Kentucky statewide – has a new website up and running.

Highlights about the Civil War in the Commonwealth, information on member sites and coming events are featured at www.kycivilwarsites.org. The website also includes eight other sites on its “Blogroll” – the Civil War Preservation Trust, Kentucky Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus Members, Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism, Kentucky Heritage Council, Kentucky Historical Society, Kentucky Main Street Communities, Kentucky Civil War Bugle and Trails R Us – Civil War in Kentucky.

“From the pastural views of Perryville Battlefield to the high-tech dioramas of Richmond, from details of the battle maneuvers of Zollicoffer at Mill Springs to the stories of African-American soldiers and families at Camp Nelson, Kentucky offers great experiences in telling the stories of the American Civil War,” Kimberly Clay, who designed and administers the website, points out.

Clay, Kentucky Department of Tourism, is one of the members of the sites group that grew out of the Central Kentucky Civil War Sites Association in July 2010.

Current member sites and battlefields are Munfordville, Richmond, Camp Nelson, Camp Wildcat, the Civil War Fort at Boonesboro, Leslie Morris Park, Lawrenceburg, Mill Springs, Perryville and Tebbs Bend.

Mary Kozac, president of  KCWSA, invites other sites and battlefields to join the Association.
